Hello and welcome to the world of Owlripper Recordings.

This <30 minute label sampler works in a similar fashion to the '42 Seconds' compilations, made of short clips from each of the first 50 'ON' (Owlripper Netlabel) releases.

Think of it as a bunch of tasty bitesize chunks to nibble on, to know what bigger feasts to munch on next! I think you will find this an interesting meal in its own right!

----->>> The origins of 'Owlripper' (one word) - noun <<<-----

I (Paul) used to do events promotion under the name Yorkshire Riffer (combining being from Leeds in Yorkshire, and a more wholesome play on the Yorkshire Ripper). I also have a project called The Owl, coming from the nickname of 'Owl', 'Owlie P' (from Paulie P).

Owlripper was born simply to make physical releases of The Owl (ripping CDs), but then I wanted to expand it to do a few compilations (with ripping riffs and ear-ripping noises!), and then it eventually led to making releases for other people.

Owlripper is just digital now. I don't have the means, energy or time to fully delve into doing it as a physical label (maybe that can be a future incarnation if it ever becomes more than just me doing it).

Sales (especially via the discography) make it possible for Owlripper to exist; to commit full time hours arranging, discussing, releasing, promoting, mastering, making videos, doing art / layouts, looking after social media pages, the YouTube channel, and making sure there are Bandcamp codes for all releases.

It couldn't exist without the incredible support, your sharing of releases and general word spreading for the interesting, challenging, weird and wonderful sounds and artists I am trying to promote through the pages, and I am grateful to have the opportunity of sharing projects of very talented people I'm lucky to have shared my time here with.

This 'FAST SLOW RIFFS LOUD QUIET NOISES EXPERIMENTAL EVERYTHING' community has some really amazing and inspiring people in it, making some life-affirming sounds, so I hope you will dive in to this release page and also into the 24 other compilations so far.
