Soloman Tump (England)
In the early hours of Sunday morning August 14th 2022 I sat in the woods of Braziers Park in Oxfordshire, UK, to record some improvised drones alongside my good friend Plague Arish. We were at the Supernormal Festival, a weekend of outsider arts and sounds which was bristling with creativity and excitement for 3 hot summer days and nights.
The Soloman Tump project was born from studying local folklore, dark stories and meshing electronic sounds with the feeling of particular places at unparticular times.
My track for this compilation is an excerpt of the sounds that I recorded in the woods whilst Plague Arish had gone to get some breakfast. The birds were singing, the sun had risen early and that slightly delirious feeling of the final day of a festival had kicked in where you are most detached from reality. When I finished performing my piece, I looked up in surprise to see a small audience of people who had been quietly enjoying my sounds. An honour to create sounds in that magical setting but even better to be able to share the experience with those who had assembled and now with you too.
Recorded 14th August 2002 at Braziers Park, Oxfordshire.
Using a variety of battery powered equipment, acoustic amplification and the sounds of the forest.
