So I seek in shifting sands, a purpose on this barren plain
Ubiquitous solid stillness stretching on and on and on
Stagnant air hovering off the ground and stifling
Coats the skin as I move past, knifing through this static ether

Every movement that I see is just the heat tricking my eyes
Refractive pools of light dance afar in a mocking wave
Lost again, but too far gone to double back to simpler times
Thirsting for that truth again, but now I'd settle for some rain

The lines upon the wall, aging cracks that break the surface
And lay out our decay as rivers running to
The earthen ground below, of which we'll all return to
As well as all we've built, wrapped in mother's arms
