insomniaindex Awesome album by this band which falls into various styles of Metal as it's never quite the same sound from track to track, varying quite a lot. Often quick-paced and dark, the music has an excellent drive to it but the melodies are excellent too. It's a very rewarding journey of an album that is intense but with the longer tracks the band opens up into creative atmospheric introspection too, making this a particularly quality musical achievement. Favorite track: ...And Then There Were None.

El Zombie Espacial Esta banda lo tiene todo!Hardcore, grindcore, thrash, black!! Los amo!! Su cantante es brutal, una lija en los oídos!! Favorite track: The Black Sun.

mourner Yes, I see the pit. And it's going to grind me to pulp for sure. What a collection of high energy, blasting fun and actually really great songs. And I mean every song. This is a feast for extreme metal fans on a grindcore base. But it is so much more. I also love '...And Then There Were None' very much. Such a heavy trip! Favorite track: Spell No Stones.

aelia Great band name, cover art, and music! Had me hooked from the first few seconds and didn't let go til the end. Not a dull moment here.

YomaBarr This rips! See this pit?! And the riffs are bonkers indeed. Thanks tons Paul and FH! (The name is bonkers too.)

update: this album kills, and the monumental closer kills the most. Congrats, Horsehead!

about

GO!
ON040 is truly special!
I am immensely proud to be releasing 'Monoceros' on Owlripper, on behalf of the Oslo based 5 piece Forcefed Horsehead.

Within just a few moments of firing up 'Monoceros', I knew I was in for an incredibly exciting and interesting ride. After the initial battery, the opening riff of 'Ruins' fully strapped me in, and the album guided me twisting and turning through all sorts of sonic avenues in its (magic number time) 42 minutes course, right through to the monolithic closer.

It's a truly massive album from a group of good people loving what they do, that has been picking up stacks of incredible reviews, advanced streams on Decibel and Invisible Oranges, national radio play and now is a Bandcamp New & Notable selection on 28.3.23!

This is the sound of a band that have worked hard to pinpoint exactly what it is they want to create, after also plying their trade over the years in other bands together and separately. The songwriting craft is honed, the playing is tight, the variety of styles gel together incredibly well, and the production is massive without being soulless or clinical.

The many reviews have cited stacks of comparisons and influences: Napalm Death, Black Breath, Cloud Rat, Wormrot, Converge, Cancer Bats, Primitive Man, Sepultura, Swans, Brutal Truth and more (I would add Rotten Sound, Nasum, Cult Leader, Gojira, Harms Way).

I think we can safely say there is something for everyone into their metal / grind / heavy riffs, as Forcefed Horsehead have gelled together hundreds of influences in a majorly coherent way.

I hope you will enjoy this monstrous album.

////

Forcefed Horsehead have been active since 2011, and now happily find themselves on the crossroads between grindcore, death metal, crust punk, hardcore, black metal, with hints of post-rock and doom metal as the electrifying journey unfolds.

“Thematically 'Monoceros' explores the notion of human decay as an entity and how much self-destructiveness and collective annihilation comes from apathy, greed and self-proclaimed prophecies."
